For a successful
cruise...
1. A cruise is a great way to revitalize your spirit and
give you a boost.
2. Look for discounted or promotional rates during off-peak
seasons.
3. Always book early for best value and ample time for
special requirements consideration.
4. For the fun of it, a two-way walkie-talkie is a great
way to keep in touch with your friends and family members
while on board a huge boat.
5. Don't leave your valuables out in the cabin. Always
keep them locked in your luggage or ask for a safe.
6. The staff on board your boat have been on the cruise a
lot of times. Ask the stewards and waiters for any info that
you may require.
7. The luggage comes onboard at roughly the same time for
everybody. Don't panic if your luggage isn't in your cabin
when you arrive. It may take some time to get to your room.
8. You may wish to carry the deck plan with you. Take a
walk, get to know the boat's layout and learn how to reach
your cabin from the main stairways.
9. Report cabin issues immediately. Know who you have to
report to in advance.
10. Do some reading on the sites from books or the internet
for a more enriching journey.
11. If you need to bring a hair dryer or an electric razor,
enquire with your cruise line as to what the cabin voltage
will be. You may need an adaptor.
12. Bring a change of clothes. Shower facilities are
available at the club house.
13. If you are visiting an offshore island where you need to
book for excursions, think about doing it as soon as you
board if you haven't already done so.
14. You are not obligated to take an organised shore
excursion. Consider exploring on your own for places that
you wish to personally visit yourself. Get all the
necessary information beforehand so as to be prepared for
all circumstances.
15. Remember to check your boat's policy if you intend to
explore on your own as you may not be covered by your ship's
insurance.
16. Life aboard a cruise boat is generally laid-back and
casual. Make sure to pack comfortable clothes.
17. Most boats have powerful air conditioning. A handy item
would be a sweater or a sweartshirt.
18. For our sunny hot Singapore climate, don't forget to
bring sunscreen and sunglasses.
19. Things to bring: camera, travel and health information,
perishables etc.
20. Smaller boats with lesser passengers are good for an
intimate environment that tend to feature highly
personalized service and, often, best itineraries.
21. For special events like business meetings, birthday
parties and other celebrations, make sure to ask what
packaged amenities are available.
22. Always call to confirm your trip prior to departure.
23. When you receive your cruise documents, take the time to
go over them in detail and verify that all the information
is correct.
24. Check-in and security procedures may be required. Be
sure to arrive at the embarkation area at the stipulated
time. If you board early, you can use that time to look
around a little.
25. Take two seasick pills at least one hour before sailing
if you are prone to sea-sickness.
26. Report cabin issues immediately. Know who you have to
report to in advance.
27. Wear strap-on rubber-soled sandals or rubber-soled shoes
to avoid slipping on the boat.
28. If you are wearing a hat, make sure it fits snugly-the
wind may blow it away!
29. Be sure to bring an extra fold-away bag to carry home
any souvenirs you purchase during your trip.
30. For a casual night, sport shirts and slacks are suitable
for men, while sundresses or pants work for women.
31. Don't forget to pack swim suits even if you don't really
intend to swim. You may never know what the temptation may
drive you to! |
